Life blocks, we all get them. You know those moments/phases when you have zero idea what you’re doing, what you want, what direction to head in. You feel stuck. In a rut. At a loss.
When you’re feeling like this all you seem to see is people smashing goals, taking on new ventures, making shit happen. And your just sat there like hello, WHAT ABOUT MEEEEE.
You panic and feel like you need to take immediate action otherwise your life is going to suck forever and your going to be doing the same old for years to come. (We can all be pretty dramatic huh?) but in fairness, in the moment that’s what it feels like.
Well I wanted to share my personal tips on what to do when you are dealing with a life block, because I myself get these blocks….OFTEN!
Don’t compare yourself: I get it, when you’re feeling blah everyone else’s successes seem to be heightened. But comparing yourself to others isn’t going to benefit you here. You are you, they are them. Everyone’s paths and journeys are different. You have no idea what they had to go through to get where they are now.
Take a break: Yep. You read that right. I know you’re probably thinking the last thing I need to do right now is take a break, I should be doing something! Actually no, I found switching off and allowing myself to do literally nothing really improved my state of mind. It’s from those moments great ideas came to life. Embrace down time.
Write down your interests/create a mood board: Now if you know what you want but are unsure where to start, that’s a good start. After all, to get what you want you need to know what you want. Get what you want on paper, cut out magazine pieces, draw it – whatever you want to do. Create a mood board so you can see it physically in front you and allow yourself to manifest them and focus on them. Attract what you want! If you are unsure what you want then don’t panic, start by writing down some of your interests and slowly add and build your mood board! From doing this you might actually find something new that you want to get into!
Make a Bucket List: When you’re feeling a bit stuck and blah, make a list of fun things you want to do! It will lift your mood and give you something to look forward to and work towards! Whether you want success or not, you still need to enjoy life and have FUN. Make time for the fun things in life.
Focus on the now: When you get in a rut and feel stuck you start panicking about the future and the things you want to achieve, and question over and over if you’re ever going to get there or achieve these things! Switch your focus onto the now! Yes it’s good to be aware of where you want your future to head, but to get there you need to enjoy the journey! What you focus on now will create that future for you. When you focus on what matters now- this moment in time, everything will map out ahead of you. Just because you can’t see how you’re going to achieve things now does not mean you will not go on to do so!
Talk to other people: Chat to your friends and family. Outsiders advice can help you gain a better perspective of your current situations and give you a kick up the ass! Not just that, but it also makes you feel better because 9 out 10 someone else is feeling/ has felt exactly how you are now! Getting out how you feel in general makes you feel 10x better and lifts a weight of your shoulders! It’s good to talk!
Remember you are in control: It’s easy to feel like you’ve lost control of your life when you’re going through a block moment, but you have not! You have the power and control to change anything you do not like. You can make shit happen and have whatever you want! Just be focused, trust the process & don’t give up! Life isn’t always easy and life blocks can be right shit, but I’ve learnt from them – is usually where the magic happens! Remember, from nothing comes everything!
