Your not Ugly – Society is!

From a young age without us even realizing, ideas of so-called “perfection” have been planted in our heads and our thoughts,  brainwashing us into thinking we need to alter how we look in order to be looked upon as beautiful and feel beautiful.  It’s as though we are no longer comfortable within our own skin, and are always looking for ways to make improvements and changes to our psychical appearance.

I cannot help but place blame at the hands of magazines, media companies, make up brands, cosmetic surgeries and social media. You cannot open a magazine without seeing a perfectly photo shopped women, with the perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect nails, perfect body, perfect teeth and so on…. but I ask one question – who said this was perfect? Who has taken this stereotypical look and blasted it as “THE LOOK” – the look we all must follow? Because, quite frankly – I think this look is one thing – BULLSHIT.

It concerns and worries me at how much this is a thing lately, and how many girls, women, boys and men feel the pressures. I have felt them myself. I find my self saying, “ahh, I wanna get my lips done” – “I wanna get my boobs done” – “Omg I need her eyebrows” – I am first hand guilty of having these thoughts of alterations, that I think I need to make to myself.

But why? Why am I really thinking this? Is it because I have always wanted to change these things about me, or is it because scrolling through Instagram has left me thinking I want to look like that. The later is the reality.

We think changing ourselves will make us happier, but you should never have to change yourself in order to find happiness. Happiness is deeper than image and materialism.

I do not think there is anything wrong with choosing to have cosmetic surgeries done, or wanting to achieve a certain look – but it has to be something that YOU ACTUALLY want to do, something that will actually give you more confidence. There is always things we do not like about ourselves, that we really want to change. But remember there is a very fine line between doing something because we have always wanted too, or doing it because we feel we need to because it’s how we “should” look.

When I went travelling to Australia, no one there was bothered about getting dressed up, putting loads of makeup on, making a massive effort, it was chilled and relaxed, and I cannot stress enough how much of a difference it makes you feel! I went from always stressing about how I looked, to bunging my hair up, going makeup free and not giving a single shit. And GUESS WHAT – NO ONE CARED.

Coming back to my hometown,  I cant help but notice how much Image matters, it’s as though everyone is a clone of one another, and we have forgotten who we really are.

I never remember wanting to look or be a certain way when I was a child, I was more concerned with playing out, making up games and being a KID. Fast forward to now and Society has massively changed, I observe children now and their childhood reflects nothing of which mine did. Young girls are looking and acting older than their years,  wearing makeup, worrying about their weight & what they are wearing. How can we blame them for doing this? When it’s pushed in their faces everywhere they look…

I want everyone to realize that there is nothing, and absolutely NOTHING wrong with being YOU, you are beautiful without making changes, without making alterations. You ARE enough. Natural is BEAUTIFUL, and Natural is noticed and Natural stands out.

There is more to life then Image. So – Embrace being you, embrace your beauty, embrace your imperfections and embrace your flaws, all of what you have, makes YOU, YOU.

Do not fall into the trap of Society, because society is UGLY you are NOT.

Published by Life Of Lil

Hello lovely's thanks for stumbling by. If you are a returning reader, thanks for your continuous loving. If you are new here, welcome to the show (and again, thanks for the love) So you are probably on this page to find out the nitty & gritty of me eh? As much as I would love to brag that I am this really cool chick who occasionally fire breathes on the weekends for fun, that would be an awful not even funny lie.  Gosh, introductions- they are kinda awkward huh? No pressure.  My name is Leanne Lilly (more often than not, known and addressed as 'Lil') I am a 25 year old woman on a mission to sprinkle positivity, empowerment, fun and realness onto my fellow human beings.  I have a passion for writing and a love of over sharing with my straight up sally attitude, I embrace my voice & have no fear of sharing it. I guess I have just always had a thing for giving my opinion & expressing my advice. I am an over sensitive, big-hearted, cry baby who is majorly compassionate, understanding and giving, but who also has daily breakdowns, mood swings, & take's no shit. But I will always speak my truth. I suppose there is many aspects to this personality.  With that said it will be no suprise that this is a Mish-Mash Life Style Blog. A Blog that is home to everything and everything. You wouldn't find me in a specific genre, because I do not think you could tie my life down (let alone my personality) to one genre. This is just a Diary if you like of a truth-speaking, real talking girl. It follows my life, my feelings, my funny side (yes, I find myself funny) and all the shit that goes down in-between. And you will probably find a bit of TMI. Often. Sorry in advance.  Disclaimer: I am NOT a grammar goddess, so don't get all grammar police on my ass. (Pretty please) P.s... When I was 7 Year's old, I asked my mum what she thought I would be when I was older "A writer or something to do with writing" - I was FUMING. I wanted to be a pop star. Years on, here I am passionately writing away & loving it. Moral of the story: Mum's are always right.
